Michael Brand is a graduate student at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the founder of the Building A Sustainable Internet DeCal, the world's first undergraduate taught course of sustainable digital infrastructure. He is also directing the Speaker Series: Building a Global, Equitable, and Just Internet Infrastructure which will bring together scholars from across the world to discuss how to design a more equitable, just, and sustainable internet for all. Michael has also conducted research on critical sustainability issues in the digital infrastructure space including: cable recovery and recycling, sustainability metrics for cable landing stations, and the Bring Your Own Power movement in the data center industry. He has presented at major industry conferences like Data Center Dynamics New York, Submarine Networks World Singapore, and the Pacific Telecommunications Council's Annual Conference.
