Melina Tisopulos is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, pursuing a B.S. in Society and Environment and a B.A. in Media Studies. She serves as an undergraduate student instructor for UC Berkeley’s Center for New Media’s Certificate in Global Digital Infrastructure. Additionally, Melina co-teaches the “Building a Sustainable Internet” DeCal, a student-led course on the environmental and social impacts of digital infrastructure. She is also hosting the accompanying “Speaker Series: Building a Global, Equitable, and Just Internet Infrastructure,” where global scholars and industry leaders will discuss pathways to a sustainable digital future. She presented on the DeCal course at UC Irvine’s “Network Ecologies Reimagined” conference.

Melina has researched the effectiveness of existing data center regulations in addressing energy and emissions concerns, as well as the potential of the Bring Your Own Power movement to meet the industry’s growing power demand. Her current work focuses on subsea cable resiliency in Australia.
