Charlie Sellars is a technology executive and climate author with a long-standing interest in sustainability challenges. Charlie initially joined Microsoft in 2020 to build the company’s first sustainability program management office for its consumer hardware business, where he helped reduce the carbon footprint of new Surface PCs by up to 40%. Since 2023, he has served as the director of sustainability for its cloud operations and innovation team with a remit to reduce the carbon, water, and waste footprint of Microsoft’s datacenter fleet. In 2025, he published an award-winning book, “What We Can Do: A Climate Optimist’s Guide to Sustainable Living.”
